The poems, stories and essays in Inspired by Six Women who Shook the World celebrate and commemorate the achievements of six remarkable women – Sarah Forbes Bonetta, Kathleen Courtney, Verena Holmes, Tirzah Garwood, Lorna Wing, and Rosemary Tonks – all with a connection to Gillingham in Kent. The words within these pages hail from the local community and beyond; from those that first heard the six women’s names in recent times, to those that have studied their lives and work. No longer hidden from history, these six women’s names, lives and legacies are now brought to a wider world.
There will be a limited number of free copies of Inspired by Six Women Who Shook the World available from branches of Medway Libraries, plus copies to borrow and for reference within Medway and from various other specialist libraries. It will be available to borrow via Inter-Library Loan.
